Learn the basics and make a scarf in your choice of color.   Whether you don’t know which end of the needle to hold or have dabbled but need some guidance, this class will have you knitting, purling, casting on and binding off and get you ready for all kinds of knitting adventures.

BEGINNERS’ HAT Thurs, Aug 12 & 26, 6:30 – 8:00

Great follow-up to the beginners’ class!  Now that you’ve finished your scarf, learn to knit in the round on circular needles, read a pattern to decrease and use double-pointed needles.  Good chance for returning knitters to revive old skills as well.  Hat can be made in any size from infant to adult.

TY-DY SKIRT    Tues, Jul 6, Aug 10, & 24,  6:30-8:00

Make a lovely lace-trimmed skirt in winter or summer weight while you learn to read a pattern , shape with increases, create a scalloped edging, make I-cord and eyelets.  Lots of learning in this fun skirt – add a matching vest and you’ve got a great outfit.  Think about this in a yarn with a bit of glitter or beading.  You’ll be the bell of the ball on New Year’s Eve!

Cost:  $45 plus materials.  Requires sold basic skills.

 

BABY BOOTIES   Tues, Aug 17 & 24 ,   2:30-3:00
Instructor:  Rachel Sarracco

Create a beautiful, handmade gift the special infant in your life.  Learn to pick up stitches, knit short rows, create eyelets and knit ruffles – all in a project to fit newborn to six-month feet!  Ruffles can be modified to a rolled cuff if your special baby is a boy.

Cost: $35 plus materials.  Requires solid basic knowledge and ability to knit with dpns.

 

FAIR ISLE HAT    Tues, Jul 13,  1:00 -2:30   OR  Tues, Jul 27,  6:30-8:00

Great introduction to two-handed Fair Isle knitting.  Two sock yarns combine to create the pretty pattern seen here – no chart necessary.   Next month we’ll move on to an adult project in true Fair Isle.  Everyone must know a child who would love this hat and while creating it you get to learn a technique that opens a world of knitting possibilities!

Cost:  $35 plus materials.   Requires solid basic skills, ability to knit in the round on circs and dpns.

 

TECHNIQUE TUESDAYS WITH LORI – BEAUTIFUL BIND-OFFS,   Tues, Jul 13, 6:30-8:00

If you thought there was only one way to end your knitting – guess again.  Learn how to bind off properly for seaming, shaping, creating gathers, adding ruffles or fringes as well as how to fix those bind-offs that are just a bit too tight or that last loop that is never quite tight enough.

Cost:  $25    Requires solid basic skills.

 

FAIR ISLE FINGERLESS GLOVES   Tues, Aug 3 & 17,  6:30-8:00

Now that you’ve got Fair Isle down pat, let’s make some fingerless mitts!  This time we’ll use a chart and create a true Fair Isle design made even prettier by using a variegated yarn.   Next month we’ll make a matching adult hat.  The set would make a great Christmas gift for a loved one or special treat for yourself.  Caution:  Fair Isle knitting is such fun it can be addictive – consider yourself warned!

TECHNIQUE TUESDAYS WITH LORI – I-CORD CLINIC   Tues, Aug 17, 6:30-8:30

Discover creative ways the I-Cord can be incorporated into your knitting!  Class will cover building the basic I-Cord, double I-Cord, I-Cord bind-off and applied I-Cord.

CHRISTMAS STOCKING   Tues,  Aug 31, Sept 21 & Oct 12,  6:30-8:00

“…stockings were hung by the chimney with care..”  Decorate your mantel with an heirloom stocking you made with your own hands!  Choose your kit from easy to advanced in a variety of colors and patterns.  Along the way depending on the kit you choose, you’ll learn simple chart reading, Fair Isle stranding, basic sock construction and kitchener stitch.

Cost:  $45 plus materials.  Solid basic skills required.

Calling all scarfers!!
Thought we’d get started on Holiday projects early this year just in case there’s another snow storm to disrupt those last Holiday shopping days.  Sooo…. Starting in August, we’ll feature a different gift project each month.

For August:   We’ll have bulky scarves and lacey scarves, knit scarves and crochet scarves,
Some scarves for men, some scarves for kids and babies and, of course, some scarves for ladies.
There’ll be skinny scarves and wider scarves, simple scarves and scarves with ruffles, too.
Scarves for the beginner and the seasoned pro as well,
